An online marketing business can be very complex when you think of all the ways you can market a business online. You may decide to choose one or two main methods of internet marketing, or you may choose several techniques.

If you’re a seasoned internet marketer with an online marketing business, or even a newbie embarking on a new online business venture, you will have probably already encountered the One-Time Offer (OTO) as one of these methods of marketing.

A one-time offer is a sales page that might pop up in several different places that allows you to make a purchase – now or never. You only see the page once, so you have to read it carefully and decide whether or not you want to make the purchase, or skip the offer forever.

It’s a very clever online marketing business sales tactic that works for some, but doesn’t work so well for others. Successful and well-known internet marketers like Mike Filsaime use the OTO as a method that helps them generate millions of dollars each year.

I have also used the OTO as a method that would supposedly help me generate more extra cash. For example, I tried OTO GoldMine, a system designed for the newbie to make extra cash by offering software and other products related to internet marketing for usually a very low price.

At first I jumped at this free opportunity. Who wouldn’t when you hear all about how well one-time offers capture those internet surfers who are rushed to make a decision now, or lose the opportunity forever?

I added it to my online marketing business website so that each time someone left my site, it was set to show the OTO Goldmine offer page, which offered products related to my site, as an exit screen, much like you would capture subscribers with an exit pop-up.

After at least a few months, I realized that the OTO

You are running a business that you really love. It has been a couple of years since you got it off the ground, you worked through all those tough times in the beginning and things really seem to be moving along.

However, you still feel like something is missing. You feel as if it is not moving as fast as you would like, or you have hit a lull in sales.

So you start contemplating, maybe you should spend more on advertising, change your marketing campaign or even hire more sales personnel.

Before you do that, maybe you should take an unofficial survey of your own business. When I tell people that, they all look at me probably the same way you are looking at the computer screen right now. With a little confusing face wrinkle and some head scratching you are curious as to what an official survey is and who exactly are you surveying.

Both questions you wonder, are very easy to answer. To answer question number one an unofficial survey that I am referring to is one in which you ask random people a series of questions in regards to your business, what you are selling and so on. They can range from, “rate your satisfaction level of the product your purchased”, to “One a scale of one through ten, rate our customer service.” You get the idea.

You want to create a series of questions, all geared toward finding answers about your business, what you sell, how your staff is doing, and ideas that can make your company better. Then, with these questions in hand you ask people to participate in answering them for you, which brings us to answer question number two. Who exactly are we surveying.

When business is sluggish, maybe sales are down, or maybe things have gotten stale, there are no better people to ask then your own customers. They are perfect for the question list you just put together. The reason being, is they have already done business with your company, so obviously they like what you have to offer. You are trying to find out, why they chose you in the first place, and what else they would like to see out of your company to make buying from you an even more enjoyable process.

Customers are a huge source of information. Most, if not all, have already done their research on why they chose you in the first place, and can offer some insight on other options they liked about your competitors, that you may be able to implement into your own business.

You will want to ask as many different customers as you possibly can. The more the better of course. Armed with this information, you can create a plan of attack on how to make some changes that could spark more interest and even better more sales into your business.

As you can see, this great idea to help your business is not very complicated, easy to put together, can be a fun project for your entire team if you hold competitions and things of that nature, and in the end, everyone benefits. So go ahead, give it a try and I am sure you will learn things about your business, you never even knew existed.

I think it’s safe to say that you want a certain action to be taken, right? Then you’d better say so. And again, be very clear about what you want to see happen.

If you want your sales letter to be a winner, be genuine and authentic in your sales letter copy. Let your dazzling personality shine through. Also, make sure to paint and give a solid idea of just how professional you are.

I’m assuming that you want to be respected in your profession, and if that’s the case, then you’d better proof-read your sales letter a million times over. If none of these ideas to write an effective sales letter sticks with you, make sure you grab onto this one and take hold of it for dear life.

It gets the sale, ca-ching! Don’t lose sight that you’re writing for THEM, that you’re sharing all the ways in which you can help to remedy their pain. Keep that in mind as you’re putting down your writing.

Oh, and how could I forget to tell you about adding graphics, audio, and/or video into your sales letter. This is the 21st century, the last time I checked! (smile)

We have become so spoiled as internet surfers. It’s almost as if we EXPECT to see these elements in everything that we click on.

Wouldn’t you agree?

Well, the truth is this: most people want an enjoyable experience when reading, so, if you can give it to them and enhance their time, it will be good for you in the long run.

As you may already know, there are far too many distractions that could take their focus away and you sure as a hay-stack don’t want that, right?

Reinforce your ‘call to action’ in order to move them in a subtle way into taking the very action that you want them to take. I say to do it in a subtle way but truth be told, this isn’t etched in stone as some kind of rule that you must follow.

I just want you to keep in mind that if you do it in a subtle manner, then your prospects will feel that they were the only one involved in making the decision to take the action.

As the teaching goes: ‘People hate to be sold, but they love to buy.’ And you know what? They will keep buying and buying like it’s going out of style if they believe that the decision to buy was solely theirs and not coming from some pushy, used car sales person, yuck!

Who likes those people?! Oh, kidding. (smile)

Writing sales letter copy is a great skill to have and it will definitely challenge you as you’re growing in your studies of it.

If you learn how to write effective sales letter copy, then you really are well on your way to writing your own paycheck because you hold the key to getting people to whip out their wallets.

Simply by doing this they get a feeling of achievement, of excitement and of success that will carry them through the hard yards and out the other side to success.

Once you make a choice to join a company or start a business do not then decide to evaluate the compensation plan or how the products stack up. You should have done all that before you joined the business (and that is another story all in itself).

Rather ACT. Copy the leaders in the company, start writing articles, get on Facebook, do some newspaper ads, do whatever it takes for you to get going and if you fail in one area then it will happen for you in another area, of that you can be assured.

Don’t be afraid to try something new. It is not failure that will cause you to stay in the same position you are in now rather it is being afraid to act and to push yourself just that little bit harder.

 You will find plenty of these people who are “afraid” simply by doing a Google search on the industry and looking at all the scam articles that abound. These are people who have not made the industry work for them and rather than hold themselves accountable, they simply “bash “something they could not make work.

Be what I call a “positive perfectionist”. That is a fire, aim, ready type of person. They are more often than not criticised but just watch them go and get results. Do not give up once you pull that trigger. See it through until you make it.

You should have done your research on your company so you should already know it works, once you know this then it is up to you to make it work. In other words, you don’t have to get it right, you just have to get it going.
